I HEART my Mom

Today I have been a little teary eyed?? Why? I think that the reality of my Mom's recent heart attack has really got to me. Of course, it got to me the minute I found out, but then I was in such a fog I couldn't even think straight...the fog went on for days. You should have seen me running around the house trying to figure out what to pack. I think I got one pair of panties, three pj shirts, and one pair of capris?? WHAT? I knew I would be there for a while.....why didn't I pack better. I just kept picturing my sweet Mom in starflight and wondering what she was thinking....if she was thinking about me, Ash and Mitch, my kids, dad... or if she was unconscious. The more I thought about it the more my stomach got in knots. It still does. I just couldn't believe that this was happening again.

July 4 was just another normal day. We went swimming and did the 4th thing. I guess around 8:00 Troy and I decided to take the kids to the Lake to watch fireworks. The kids were so excited about it. When we got there..all settled...waiting for the big event, Macy decided she wanted to call Neena and Papaw. I thought that was a great idea since Mom had called earlier in the evening to wish us a Happy 4th. Macy waited patiently for Mom to answer and I heard her say... "Hi Papaw...ok here is my Mom." I thought that was odd because Dad always wants to talk to her so I had a gut feeling that something was wrong. When I got on the phone he asked if I got his message. I said no...what happened? He then told me that Mom was on her way to the Heart Hospital on StarFlight and they think she had a heart attack! WHAT?? My knees went to jelly and I didn't even hear the fireworks that were going off....I was in lala land. I was so scared and I didn't even know what questions to ask. Dad said that he didn't have too much info because he wan't at the hospital yet...he was following starflight...but he would keep me posted. (so I called Becky!! HAHA) Ash and Mitch didn't know...Dad had left messages with them, too. I told Dad I would call. That was hard. I called Ash...like 40 times she was outside with sparklers. I finally called BA's phone and told him that I need to speak to Ashley. He said is everything OK and I said No..He handed the phone to Ashley and she knew something was wrong and she said her sparkler went out and she burned her leg! HA Anyway we knew we had to go...we had to be with Mom. I called Bubs and JD answered....I was so scared to tell him...so I made JD do it! :) I told JD everything I had told Ashley and she said she would break it to Mitch. We were all so scared. We didn't know what was going on...we all felt SO far away. I wish I could have wiggled my nose and been there in a flash.

We left the firework display and went straight home and packed. Macy had fallen asleep in the car on the way home so I just left her in the car...Reid stayed in there with her... and I packed for all of us. It didn't take me long because as I said before I packed terribly! Anyway, I guess I got to Katy around midnight...picked up Ash and BA and we were off...... We made it to Austin at about 3 in the morning. It seemed like we would never make it. You know that song by Celine Dion, "We drove all night, to get to you" that's what it felt like we did! :) The coolest thing is that we arrived at the hospital the same time that Mitch did and he was coming from Abliene. It was definitely a God thing. All three of us were there....we made it. We all walked in with our pillow and blankets ready to sleep wherever as long as it was in the hospital. I slept on two chairs pushed together. Ashley slept on the little loveseat thing and Mitch slept on the floor...I hope he doesn't have hepatitis! HA And Dad slept in Mom's room...he was an awesome nurse to Mom. Never leaving her side...I told Troy to take note. :)

We took turns going in and when it was my turn(I should have went in first since I am the oldest but my sister cut) to go in I had a lump in my throat. I had been there before, same hospital, close to the same room, same smell, same monitor beeps....I walked in and there was my mom. Laying peaceful, eyes closed. I said, "Mom, I love you." And she said, "how does my hair look!!" HA! I knew then that she was going to be ok. Sick but ok. I then told her that her lipstick was still on and she was glad about that. After a heart attack, ER visit, starflight to Austin, and angioplasty her lipstick was still on (not any other make-up..it was all smeared). She said she was going to write Loreal a letter and tell them how good their 12 hour lipstick worked! ha

We did find out the next day that her heart attack was a little worse than we thought. That gave us all a big scare. She stayed there for another day...I was hoping they would keep her until we knew for sure that her heart was better and her flutters were gone. BUT...you know insurance. So, now the doctors told her she needed to watch what she eats and try to get in at least 30 minutes of exercise a day....YUCK. Who likes to exercise?? :) But it is a wake up call for all of us to take better care of our bodies. And when she is feeling better she knows that I will be calling her to make sure she got her walking in.

She had many visitors over the next day. Everyone was glad that she was ok and feeling better. Jody and Kathy came down...we were so glad. Nana and Poppi were there, of course. Mimi, Cindy, Karen and other friends from school, Becky and Tawana and lots of phone calls from friends and church. I hope I'm not leaving anyone out....All that to say how much she is loved and how wonderful of a mom, sister, daughter, wife, friend, christian, etc that she is.

I know I left out a lot of the week but my thoughts and emotions are all jumbled up. I'm not the best writer. I DID NOT take after my mom on having the gift of being a good writer. I guess you can say I am a better talker. So, I'm with Mom that if you want the gory details you can call me! HA

Mom, I love you more than you will ever know. My life would not be complete without you in it you are my rock. You are the world to me and my family and always will be. I'm so glad that God heard our prayers and healed your body. You are still, as always, in our daily thoughts and prayers. We are truly a blessed family. I love you!

Now, mom...go take a nap.

Sea World 2006

We just got back from Sea World and let me tell you...if you plan on going you better not forget yout tennis shoes! I think I walked off 10 pounds. Well, I wish I walked off 10 pounds but you get my drift. This place is huge! The first day we were there we did the shows, petting the dolphins, aquarium, etc. It was really awesome. The Shamu show was really great. And of course, we had to sit in the splash zone. I figured we wouldn't really get that wet but I took my towel just in case. Well, good thing I did because that big whale got us soaking. I had to wring my towel out before he came back around the second time to drench us with cold, COLD salt water. Macy and Reid thought it was the best.....Troy and I thought....WHY did we sit in the splash zone???? We should have done that last because we walked around with wet socks and shoes for hours. Reid got a blister from his wet shoes. He was the only one whining....thats a different story....HA

The second day we did the water park. It was really fun. It was alot more relaxing than the day before! There wasn't as much walking. I myself loved the LAZY RIVER. Reid and Troy caught the tube rides while Macy and I swam in the lazy river and wave pool. I did get to catch a few tube rides and they were fun...all except the black tube ride that Reid insisted that I go on. I couldn't see my hand in front of my face. I screamed all the way down. I hate dark rides...Especially when you are in water and on a tube. YIKES! It was a fun day of sunscreen (lots of it), wedgies, goggles, lifejackets, flip-flops, sunglasses, water shoes, cute little necklaces for souvenirs, and yummy ice cream (that cost 4.10 per cone!) Yes, when you go...make sure you take a million dollars to spend in the park on goodies!

The best part of the trip was being together. I have two wonderful children who still love kisses, hugs and holding my hand. I have an awesome husband who loves me even though I get wedgies coming off of a tube ride. I'm not perfect! HA

They are my world. Thank you Father for the joys in my life.

Shamu, Reid and Macy take time to pose for a picture. This was after a long day at the water park. We were going to see Shamu for the second time BUT we did not sit in the splash zone!!

Troy and the kids at the aquarium. We watched them feed the sting rays and got to see some pretty cool sharks. Troy liked that part. :) See Reid holding that fan that he HAD to have?? Next time you see him ask him how much that little fan cost. That boy....he did share though!

Mom and kids before the first Shamu show...BEFORE we got wet. This was us sitting in the splash zone not knowing what was fixing to happen! HA Good thing I wasn't wearing a white t-shirt!

Macy's Recital pics

The gangs all here! Reid, Ash, Jenna, Me and Macy pose for a picture after the recial. We were so glad that Jenna, Ash and BA made it for the big day! We all had a blast! :)

PRINCESS MACY all ready for her dance recital. Check out the make-up! YIKES. I was a little worried about the makeup part but once she was out there on stage it looked really pretty. All the little girls did so good! I had tears in my eyes watching her first recital.

The family after the recital......Reid was glad it was over! ha ha

Neena and Papaw came to the big recital~~ We were so glad. It wouldn't have been the same without them!

Dear God, It's me...Macy

Funny little conversation I had the other night...thought I'd share...

Me: Macy, please go upstairs and start picking up your room. I'll come help in a minute.

**a little time went by and I went upstairs to check on how things were going. I peeked in her room and this is what I heard....

Macy: Dear God, please clean my room!

She was a little upset when He did not show up to help! HAHA

The girl is a hoot......

Friday, May 12, 2006

Ok...can this week get any crazier! I just had to put Macy in time out.....I know....shocking. The girl is going thru something and I am ready for this phase to be over. There is only so much whining I can take! :) Yes, my kids whine. I feel like they are the only kids on earth who do....

As I type she is yelling from her bed, "Mommy, I'll be good. Open my door" It breaks my heart. Oh, she just opened her door.....ha ha And while she was in time out she changed her clothes. I tell you that girl changes 50 times a day. It wears me out. Her laundry pile is twice as big as the rest of us. She goes from pj's, to clothes, and back to pj's....ALL DAY. She's a hoot.

Lord, be with me! :)

Our week has been a little hectic. We have had field days, splash days, teacher appreciation lunches, Mothers Tea, homework, baseball, dance, dentist appts.....WOW...I'm ready to veg by the pool!!! I think I have burned about 2 tanks of gas just this week. It is a fun busy but there are days when I really do feel like a taxi! HA

Reid has a museum project due next week at school. You had to choose one famous person and do a little report and memorize 10 things about them. Then next week they are to dress up like that person. Then all the third graders go to the library and just stand there in their spot like a wax figure. haha Then, the kinder-2nd grade come in to see them and push a fake button that is in front of them and when the button is pushed they are supposed to spout out all the information that they memorized!! hahaha I think that sounds so fun. I will have to take some pictures and post them. You'll never guess who he picked.....of course it's a baseball player....Albert Pujols. why?? I don't know...he's crazy...I would have picked Brad Ausmus...he's alot cuter! ha Go Astros! One of his little friends picked Barry Bonds. oh, the drama. It ought to be fun to see what everyone picked.

Gotta go....Princess Macy needs a popsicle.....her 3rd for the day.

Why is it so hard to blog?? I don't know maybe its because I feel like this "season" of my life is CRAZY. It's a fun crazy but one thing I know is that at night when I lay my head down I'm out like a light. Who needs Tylenol PM when you have two kids who like to go, go, go. :)

A few quick updates and rambles:

**There are so many things that need to be done around here. If you came to my house right now you would think a bomb went off. I don't know how people do it. It seems like my house is always a mess. Yes, its toys, laundry, etc...but I can't keep up. Anyone have any good tips on keeping your house decent just in case there is that one friend that decides to pop on over like last week..... HA

**Reid's team is in 2nd place. We went from dead last to actually doing great. We still have a few games left so who knows what our standing will be. The boys are just excited that as of tonight...we are in 2nd. :) Reid had a great game tonight. He hit a triple....he was thrilled. He also made a great out at 1st. I didn't know his little legs could stretch so far off the base. :) He loves playing 1st base. It makes me nervous. The cheerleader in me comes out when he is playing...I never thought I'd be one of those loud Moms but I am. But I do have to say I never say, "Good Eye, Good Eye" (MOM...HA HA HA) I mean get serious...one eye??? Who can play baseball like that. heehee

**Macy loves baseball games too.....or should I say the concession stand. Tonight she had popcorn, Sunny-D juice, green apple airhead, watermelon airhead, a push pop (until it fell on the ground and broke into a million candy pieces), and a ICEE push up. I keep score at the games so she knows when she asks me I will just hand her some change. I didn't realize she had had so much until I looked at her shirt and it was covered with food.......she's a smart kid. Now I just pray that there will be no puking in the Sab's house tonight. Next game I need to pay better attention....

**As you can see baseball is our life right now.

**Macy turned 4 last week. WOW I really can't believe that. I will have to post some pictures from her big day. She was so excited about her birthday. This is such a fun age. She woke up and was so excited about being 4...she kept asking me if she was four and kept saying are you sure?? HA We are truly blessed by having her as our daughter. I will try to do a post just for her when I get some pictures. She is such a blessing to me....both my kids are. Sometimes at night when I tuck them in (for the 100th time) I just stare at them and kiss their little cheeks over and over....pure joy.

**I love my family

**I love my friends

**I need to have a garage sale......gag

**Reid was riled up this morning about that mean guy from the A's that was trying to beat up John Lackey. He wasn't too happy about that guy and said that if he was John he would have done the same thing. :) He was late to school today because he had to make sure he had all the facts straight. I'm sure that was what the boys talked about on the playground. hee hee

**I'm ready for the pool to open....not for bathing suits though.

**I need a haircut...but who has time??

I guess I better sign off for now...I'm sure there is alot more I could ramble about but I will save that for another post. I will try to be better about posting more often. It's a great stress reliever! HA Oh, and I will try to post some recent pictures...if I can get Troy to download them for me....he's a pro at that stuff.

H-E-L-L-O out there........

I have been in a little blogger funk as well as some of my other blogger friends. :) There are days when I have so much going on in my head and then when I go to blog about it it gets all jumbled up. I'm a terrible writer so this is a real struggle for me and I am determined to keep it up. It's not looking too good since my last post was in Feburary! It has been pretty crazy around here. Let me see if I can think of anything interesting. To my 2 readers....

**Reid is in full swing baseball. We are the Dodgers this year and are 2-2 so I guess we are doing ok. He is really doing good and loving it. I am so glad that he likes baseball. I love going to his games and watching him. He looks like a "mini-Troy" out there. I'm sure I have said that before but it is so true. Sometimes I chuckle to myself when he gets up there to bat because his hiney is a spittin' image of his Dad's...HA HA HA Anyway, we have a game tomorrow so he is sound asleep dreaming of hitting a Grand Slam or "Slammy" as he called it yesterday in the car.

**Reid made a 100 on his TAKS test! After all that drama and he aced it.....That boy! Now we are preparing for the math part of the TAKS and he told me the math was easy....he definitely didn't take after me on that. Sometimes I have to double check with Troy on Reid's answers and he is in the 3rd grade! I'm in big trouble...

**Macy is absolutely loving dance class. She has a dance recital in May and she is so excited about that. We got her little costume and it is way cute. I will have to post some pictures next week. They have pics and dress rehersal on Tues so I will try to snap a digital picture then. I'm scared to let her try on her costume at home because my luck she will get ketchup or something like that on it and she will be the only kid on stage with a stain. Then won't I look like a GREAT mom! She wears her ballet shoes around the house every chance she gets. She has black shoes and of course for the recital she needs pink. So we had to go shopping for new ballet shoes yesterday. She was so excited. We went to this little dance shop and she went crazy. Everything she picked up she needed to buy and everything was, "Mom this is SO cute." She's like a little teenager....I'm scared!

**We had a great Spring Break. We went to S'ville and got to spend time with family. We always love that. We always love our time shopping on Main Street! JD and I got our hair done and JD got her fried pickles from Pockets! YUM The kids love going to Neena and Papaws. Reid shot hoops every chance he got. Macy enjoyed playing in Mom's make-up and spreading it all over the place. I enjoyed having babysitters! :) Jody, Jenna, JD, Jor and I even got to go to a girly movie...while Bubs and Reid went to see their movie!!! It was a fun week and we are looking forward to the next holiday! :)

Hopefully I will have pictures soon.....and think of something a little deeper and interesting! :)

I want to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the sweetest NANA on earth! WE love you so much and hope your day was wonderful. We were thinking about you all day...llike everyday!

Happy Birthday to you,
Happy Birthday to you,
Happy Birthday Dear Bubbie,
Happy Birthday to YOU!

We love you and miss you and hope that you have a great birthday. May all your wishes come true! Enjoy the taco soup that JD made for you...wish we were there to have some!! YUMMY:)

TAKS makes you sleepy...zzzzzzz

Well, yesterday after school I went in to talk to Reid's teacher. I wanted to see how he did and to make sure he didn't rush through the test (yes, I'm a little overprotective! HA). Reid's teacher said he did great and finished about 12:30 or 1:00. She said after all the kids were done they could sit at their desk and either read a book or lay their heads down to rest. Reid wanted to rest.....Ms. D said that she left the room to take a break and another teacher came in to relieve her. When she got back Reid was snuggled up under his desk sound asleep. She went over to him and touched his back to make sure he was ok and the little girl that sits next to Reid said, "Ms. D he was sleeping and he just fell out of his chair and went back to sleep." The teacher that had come in to relieve Ms. D never even knew he fell out....he didn't even know he fell out! She said he stayed snuggled up under his desk for about 30 minutes! HA It was so funny. She was cracking up. She said she had never had a child fall out of his chair from exhaustion! HA

I think he is so glad that it is over. I am so glad that it is over!! Last night we went to Gattiland to celebrate all his hard work. His Math TAKS is in April and then we will really celebrate. :)

TAKS

Question: How do you know your child has had too much of the TAKS test?
Answer: He falls asleep at his desk and falls on the floor.

Happy Valentines Day

I hope everyone had a great V-day! Ours was filled with more candy than you can imagine! Macy had a party yesterday...candy running out of the bag and Reid's party was today. We had ice cream sundaes with all the goodies on top! Some of the kids had 2 scoops of ice cream and candy, syrup and m&m's piled so high you couldn't even see the ice cream! The were so hyper! Macy had to go with me because Troy was working today and she had ice cream too so needless to say she was hyper too! HA I hope they eat supper......

This week had already been so crazy and its only Tuesday. I haven't really had time to blog....My house is a zoo sometimes.

I have wanted to post about my sweet Momma. She celebrated her birthday on the 6th. I wanted to tell you how much I love you and how much we enjoyed our visits with you on your birthday. You are such a joy to my kids and to me and I am blessed to have you as my Mom. I value your love and your friendship more than you will ever know. I love you, Mom and I wish you many, many, many more Happy Birthdays!

IT'S FRIDAY!! :)

Babies Don't Keep

Cleaning and scrubbing
can wait till tomorrow,
for babies grow up
we've learned to our sorrow.

So quiet down, cobwebs,
dust, go to sleep...
I'm rocking my baby
and babies don't keep

My mom used to have that poem hanging on the wall when we were growing up. I never really understood it until I had kids of my own. Boy, is it true. My kids are growing up so fast and its so scary. I was listening to Macy and Reid talk to each other in the car tonight and I couldn't believe that they were old enough to be carrying on such an adult conversation! HA... well, maybe not adult.......

Reid: "Macy, don't sing. You don't even know the words."
Macy: "Yes, I do Bubba....are you in charge?" "Mom can I take my shoes off?"
Reid: "No, Macy...mom said not now."
Macy: "I was telling Momma...I said are you in charge?"

********************************************

Today was a great day! Reid got his test results back on a practice reading TAKS test...he made a 97!!!!!! I am so proud of him. He has really been working hard on his homework and trying to remember all the strategies that he has learned. He was so proud of himself, too.....When I picked him up from school he was beaming. We had to go celebrate with a special snack. He chose the conveinent store down the street....go figure. Cheap for me...a blue icee and a bag of mustard pretzels. YUMMY Now let's pray that the real test that is in Feb. will be as successful! I know it will be. Keep Reid in your prayers because for those that know him knows he is a worry wart (like his mama). He already has hives we don't need any other stress related skin irritations.

Well, its late and I have to still go fold some clothes. Reid informed me that all his jerseys were dirty and he had nothing to wear. Forget wearing normal clothes...the boy wears jerseys all week. He lays one out everynight so he will know exactly which one he will wear to school the next day. He is mister orzanized! And Macy informed me that her sparkly shirt was wet in the "washer thing" and she wants to wear it tomorrow.....she wears it every other day. There are nights when she sleeps in it. I'm too tired to argue.

Nighty-Night

Bye-Bye Naptime

Today is a sad day at the Sab's......I think Macy is finally done with naps! It has been about a week and she hasn't had a nap. :( I always loved that time when she was napping when I could just sit and recoup from the morning. I loved sitting and watching my soap or just listening to music. Sometimes I would do my Bible Study, drink coffee and pray that someone would not come and ring the doorbell and wake her up. Now, don't get me wrong....I love my time with my kids but there was just something about naptime that helped me to be a better Mommy for the rest of the evening.

Everyday after lunch is when she would usually go upstairs to lay down. Today she told me that she didn't need a nap because her happy face was in her pocket and she was fixing to put it on. HA..that girl is a hoot. The good thing about no naps is that she goes to bed alot easier at night. Last night while I was watching ER she came downstairs and got on my lap and fell right to sleep. I love that cuddle time.....it has been a long time that she has wanted me to pat her back and rock her. She thinks she is too big for that! :) So, if no naps mean more cuddle time well, then bring it on!

IN-VINCE-IBLE

The night of the game Reid was so excited! He had waited for so long! He came down the stairs and had on EVERYTHING longhorn. He had on 3 hats, pillow, hand and used the extra shirt as a rally towel.....he is a hoot! It really was a great game...that Vince Young is amazing!

Here is Reid cheering on Vince Young.....he said he knew we were going to win! I don't even think he took a bathroom break from the exciting game. Reid and Troy were giving high fives and cheering....I was waiting for one of those chest hits that goofy guys do...HA :)

Macy's first field trip....her Mothers Day Out class went to the library! FUN FUN I got to go and and we all had such a good time. After the library we went to the park for a picnic! They loved that! They thought they were such big kids.... and Macy thought it was so cool that they all had on the same shirt...HA HA

My sweeties on Christmas Day. I begged for a picture before church! One day they will be glad I took it!

Fun times in 2005

Here are some World Series Pictures that I have been wanting to post forever! I think I have finally figured out how to do the pic thing....I guess we will see. :)

This is Troy and Reid before the game. They were so excited I could hardly get them to pose for a picture. I don't know who was more excited...

I thought Troy did a great job taking pictures! I just figured only a Mom would think about having him pose with the sign...WAY TO GO DAD! By the way, this was taken about 3 hours before the game! HA They left the house at about 4:00 and the game didn't start till 7:00....silly boys! Oh well...they got to see ALL the pre-game.

GOD BLESS AMERICA!! I thought this was a cool picture.

I was also proud of Troy to ask someone to take a picture of them.....that was really stepping out of his comfort zone! HA This was before the rally hats!!

RALLY HAT TIME!! GO ASTROS!!

They had a great time....even though we lost and they didn't get home till about 3 in the morning. Reid still talks about it and how that was one of the latest he has ever stayed up! He even got to skip school the next day! What a memory!

Happy New Year Everyone.......

I'm not too sure what to write....2006 is here and so far so good. Christmas was great. It was another year of fun, laughs, family, food, food, food and more food. The kids had a blast and again got WAY too much stuff. Macy was so excited about her barbie Cinderella and the Prince and Reid hasn't stopped playing with his PSP or wearing his Texas Jersery. They also got so much fun stuff from everyone and at times they don't know what to play with next. Reid has had fun putting all his baseball cards in order. He is all about organization! Every year I think how lucky we all are to get to spend Christmas together and have so much fun as a family. It is something I look forward to all year. I love being with parents, sis, sis in law, bro, bro in law, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and now more little cousins! We are a blessed family.
Yesterday I spent most of the day straightening the kids rooms. It looked like a bomb went off in there. We threw out some old stuff to put in the new stuff. That is always hard for them to do. I am thinking that I might have a garage sale. I don't know. I always bust my hiney to have one and then I only make about 20 bucks. I guess my stuff really is junk! HA So, today they are having fun in their clean rooms, playing with all their Christmas. What a sweet memory...I love hearing them talk to their toys. :)
My Christmas lights and decorations are all still up. That is next on my list. I am thinking I might wait until they go to school so I can do it without any help......you know the kind of help that takes you twice as long. Anyone want to come and help?? :)

Honk if you love Christmas!

Oh my gosh...this town is a ZOO!! I made the mistake of taking the kids to Wal-Mart tonight and it makes me remember why I try to go when they are at school. They were pretty good but it was so crowded that they were stepping on me and once Reid ran over my heels with the cart....OUCH!! I remember doing that to Mom! HA Sorry...I know now that it hurts.....really bad!! Of course, every aisle they wanted something forgetting that X-mas is right around the corner. It's so hard to teach your kids the true meaning of Christmas. They just see presents and that ok because I want them to always believe in HoHo but I also wish that for once when we go to a store that they don't beg for things.....keep dreamin' right??

The traffic is also CRAZY!! I think I got honked at 3 times today. Nothing bad but when you are at a light people don't even give you time to put your foot on the gas before they honk at you to go. PATIENCE PEOPLE... :) It really drives me nuts. I hate the horn..HA Then there are the sweet drivers that will let you in and wave if you let them in as to say Thank you!! :) I love those people! HEE HEE

I am really getting close to being done with all my shopping. It really is fun and I really do love the hustle and bustle but tonight I am tired......kinda like my Mom said...I'm too pooped to pop!
I think the kids will be excited this year. Macy is really understanding it more and is really excited about getting presents from Santa. She wants a dog...or a baby sister.. :) I told her Santa doesn't bring things like that....especially sisters. HA Last year she was excited about the boxes and tissue paper and this year, I have a feeling, will be all about the toys! :) Reid is excited too and of course all his items are a little more grown-up and it makes me sad! This might be his last year to believe and that REALLY makes me sad. My baby is growing up.

Tomorrow is Reid's class party. They are making Gingerbread houses.....that ought to be real messy. He is excited about not having any homework this week and getting to wear his Santa hat to school. He had to have one when we were at Walgreens the other day. (see??....had to have) It looks too cute on him and I'm sure you will all see it soon because he is too excited about wearing it at Nana and Poppi's house on Chirstmas Eve.

Today was Macy's class party. When I picked her up she had green icing ALL over her shirt, face, pants and hair. They made ice cream cone trees. They were too cute but does green icing come out of clothes?? HA... Of course, they were supposed to be decorated with candy but Macy had already eaten all her candy off and her tree was bare....just some of the green icing was all that was left. She also was so proud because she made me a candle holder...very cute. When I opened it she was so eager to see how I was going to react. I think I did everything but do a cartwheel.....I think she wanted a cartwheel. HA

I need to go get some party bags ready for tomorrow.....I hope everyone has a good week and I hope you don't get honked at while you are out shopping!

Out of the mouths of babes

Today while walking to the car after picking Macy up from school I was reading one of her many papers. This was a little interview her teacher gave the kids about things to be thankful for.....

What I am Thankful for
by Macy

On Thanksgiving day I am thankful for: Mommy and Daddy and Granma?
My moms name is: Heather
How old is she: 1 year
My mom smells like: Flowers
She likes to eat: Hamburgers
The thing my mom cooks best is: French fries
What I like best about my mom: earrings
If I had lots of money, I would buy my mom: Ice Cream
My dad's name is: Troy
How old is he: 8 years
My dad smells like: poo-poo
He likes to eat: hamburgers
For fun, my dad like to: wrestle
My dad's job is: making money
What I like best about my dad: he plays basketball

OK...I know what your thinking. No, Troy doesn't really smell like poo-poo. HAHA! Isn't that the funniest thing. I had to go back into her classroom and talk to her teacher. When she saw me walk in she started laughing. I was so embarrassed but she assured me that Macy wasn't the only one who put that word on their paper. That still doesn't make me feel any better about my potty-mouthed child! HA! She says that because Troy and I always fight over who's girl she is... I always say to her that daddy is stinky and she is MY girl. I never dreamed she would say that at school! I guess I need to be a little more careful of what I say. Anyway, I just thought you might need a good laugh!
And by the way I do cook more than just hamburgers and French fries.

Live well, laugh often, love much

I've been following the story of Kyle Lake, a preacher from the University Baptist Church in Waco, who was electrocuted and died last week while performing a baptism. It was such a tragedy....I just can't believe that something like that could happen. WHY?? I feel so much sorrow for his family. He was married and had 3 small children. I just can't even imagine the pain that they are feeling right now. Please help me pray for healing and comfort for the Lake family and also for the UBC family. From what I read he was a vibrant man whom everyone loved, a true man of God. They say he had a gift for preaching and bringing people to Christ....especially in the college community. I just wanted to post one of the things he said in his last sermon that I found on the website. Even though I didn't know him, his words really touched my heart and I wanted to share it with you. Sometimes we take life for granted and forget how precious it really is and how everything around us and everyone in our lives are truly treasures from God. I hope everyone has a wonderful and blessed week.........

Live

Live. And Live Well. BREATHE. Breathe in and Breathe deeply. Be PRESENT. Do not be past. Do not be future. Be now. On a crystal clear, breezy 70 degree day, roll down the windows and FEEL the wind against your skin. Feel the warmth of the sun. If you run, then allow those first few breaths on a cool Autumn day to FREEZE your lungs and do not just be alarmed, be ALIVE. Get knee-deep in a novel and LOSE track of time. If you bike, pedal HARD… and if you crash then crash well. Feel the SATISFACTION of a job well done—a paper well-written, a project thoroughly completed, a play well-performed. If you must wipe the snot from your 3-year old’s nose, don’t be disgusted if the Kleenex didn’t catch it all… because soon he’ll be wiping his own. If you’ve recently experienced loss, then GRIEVE. And Grieve well. At the table with friends and family, LAUGH. If you’re eating and laughing at the same time, then might as well laugh until you puke. And if you eat, then SMELL. The aromas are not impediments to your day. Steak on the grill, coffee beans freshly ground, cookies in the oven. And TASTE. Taste every ounce of flavor. Taste every ounce of friendship. Taste every ounce of Life. Because-it-is-most-definitely-a-Gift.

We still love the 'stros

Well, all the World Series HOOPLA is officially over! I'm really pretty sad about it! I was hoping that the Astros would have done a little better than they did....one win was all I was asking for...is that SO much!! :) Reid and Troy have been a little sad but they are still Astros fans...that's all that counts, right??

Last week our neighbor came over and asked Troy if him and Reid wanted to go to game 3 of the World Series. (are you kidding me??) He told Troy that he had bought them for some clients and it fell through and he wanted to give them to us....can you believe that? I wish I would have had my video camera out to film the expressions on the boys faces! I don't know who was more excited. We never in a million years thought they could ever go to the World Series! Reid had asked if he could go but when we told him how much the ticket were he understood why we couldn't! I was sad because I couldn't go so I kept asking Reid if he was sure he wanted Daddy to take him and not me....he WAS sure! :) Anyway, the rest of the week were smiles and cheers about getting to go the game. When Tuesday arrived Reid said he thought school would never be over! He was so anxious about getting to go. I guess they left around 4:30 but before they left I took their picture like it was the first day of school. They held their tickets up and everything! It was cute...haha I told Troy to make sure he took pictures of them when they got to the park. I'll have to try to post them later. He did a really good job taking pictures and even filming a little. He is definitely a scrapbookers husband! :) I have to get Ashley to help me post the pictures because I haven't figured that out yet! :)

So, they left for the game and that is just the BEGINNNING of a crazy night :) After they left Macy and I decided to stay outside an play. It was a beautiful day....at first! I guess about 30 minutes went by and my friend Lacie called. We were talking and she asked if we wanted to come over. As I was talking to her I went to my front door to go get my purse and the door was locked. WE WERE LOCKED OUT! Of all the days to be locked out of the house. I called Troy and he was just getting to the field. He couldn't come home and bring me the keys because for one he just paid $30.00 to park (can you believe that) and second they would miss all the fun stuff at the beginning and Reid put his foot down about that said we could just stay outside! :) Well, my sweet friend Lacie came to pick us up and take us to her house. She had to feed us and everything. I had no purse no cell phone no money......nothing......just the clothes on my back (and Macy's) plus it was cold outside! :) I'm just glad I didn't leave supper cooking on the stove!! I just happened to have my house phone outside and then it went dead. It was not my day let me tell you! So I just thought I'd be at her house till about 11:30 or 12:00....NO that would have been too easy. Only the Astros could make this game last till 2 in the morning! So, by the time Reid and Troy came to get me and Macy it was about 2:45 in the morning and we were all exhausted. Needless to say Reid missed school on Wednesday and we all slept off our crazy day. We will never forget Game 3 of the 2005 World Series...for more reasons than one.

I am, though, so thankful to my sweet neighbors for making my sweet boys so happy and helping them make a memory that will last a lifetime! They will talk about this for many many years to come. I am also so blessed that they love each other so much and enjoy doing father/ son things. They are definitely two peas in a pod and I love them both very much! :)

Supercalafragalisticespialadocious

A sign that your child has been watching too much Mary Poppins.....

*I told Macy to go pick up her toys and while she thought I wasn't looking she started snapping her fingers like her toys were just gonna jump in the toy box on their own. SO FUNNY!

*She dances like a penguin.

*She HAD to have an umbrella at Wal-Mart yesterday.

*She told me that medicine is really good.

*She often wears a hat around the house.

*She likes to use the chalk on the sidewalk like Bert

The girl keeps me laughing.

Rita, Rita we don't need ya!!

What in the world?? Can you believe another hurricane?

The last couple days have been a blur for our family. Yesterday we left our house at about 5:00 in the afternoon. Leaving my house was one of the hardest thingsI've ever done. The way the hurricane is going it is headed right in our direction and we will for sure get flooding or worse. It is was so hard yesterday going thru my house deciding what I would save or let float away in the Gulf of Mexico. Needless to say there were a few tears...especially when we pulled out of the driveway not knowing what we would face when we returned. Of course we packed both our cars as full as we could. I grabbed pictures off the walls, pictures in boxes, scrapbooks, pictures just sitting around, pictures on my refrigerator....obviously I had alot of pictures!! ha ha We also had to get important papers, kids stuff, Grannys quilts and who knows whatelse I threw in there at the last minute. It makes me sad because I couldn't get all my Christmas decos....I know it doesn't sound important and it's really not in the big scheme of things but alot of my ornaments are things that either my kids made, I bought just for them, or we got when we got married. You just don't realize how many precious things you have in your home until you have to choose what means the most to you .... it is heartbreaking. When we got hours down the road I remembered I left my favorite pillow....

I got so tickled at Reid because I told him to go in his room and grab a few things and he came down with a backpack full of baseball cards, baseball hats, a baseball signed by John Lackey and his trophys!! ha ha...I was cracking up. Macy got her backpack and loaded it up with some of her Noah's ark little people and I think some baby dolls. She would't let me open it...she wanted to load it in the car all on her own! Go figure.....

We went to Wal-mart on Monday night and got whatever was left. It looked like a bomb went off in there. Troy got batteries, juice, water (2 cases were all we could get!!) and some canned stuff. We also picked up a few rubbermaid containers. I was able to get all my pictures and stuff in them. I also packed tote bags and garbage sacks. We looked like the Beverly Hililbillys going down the road...which brings me to the next part of the story..... :)

We were headed for Smithville, not knowing what was ahead. As I said we left at 5 in the afternoon. It took us 11 hours to get from our house to Rosenburg which is only about 50-60 miles. I finally had a little breakdown and told Troy we could not sit in this any longer because it was already about 2:00 in the morning and Macy had just about had enough. So we called Ashley to get back road directions to get to Katy. My sister is like Nana..she can get you anywhere anytime thru all kinds of dirt roads and back roads. We didn't know where we were she was telling Troy to turn here, there and all of a sudden we were on her street...only by the grace of God and Ashley's smart inherited sense of directions. ha ha (by the way, we had to bust thru one baracade...but intense times calls for intense measures...is that the saying?? ha) Thanks, sissy for all your help!

You just can't even believe all the traffic. It was bumber to bumper all night. I think the fastest we went was 20 mph. The kids did great about the first 9 hours.....thank God for portable DVD players! I think we watched Barney 89 million times. Reid and Troy were in front of us in the Honda and every so often I would see Reid turn around and wave! I think for him it was a real adventure..... for me it was NOT but seeing my sweet boy smiling and waving made it all better.

So, we finally all got to bed about 4:30am and are slow moving this morning. Ashley and I went to Wal-mart and were able to get some stuff and now I think it is nap time. I am just glad we are not still sitting in traffic like SO many people. I am so thankful that we are at Ashley and BA's and are safe...

Please keep our family in your prayers and pray that Rita will lose strength and spare our home. Also pray for the people still sitting on all the main roads trying to reach their families. It's a parking lot out there....

Sorry it's so long...I got on a roll. Hope I didn't bore you too bad.... ha ha

update on Picasso

OK...I feel bad. Macy just came in and said, "I'm sorry mommy for writing on your floor." Doesn't that just melt your heart... heehee I know she just wants out of time out but her apology was so sweet. Thank you God for forgiveness..........

My Little Picasso

I had to sit down for a minute and blog before I lost my ever loving mind!! ha ha Macy is really trying my patience today. She is a ring tale tooter....Last month she wrote on my couch with a red marker and then when I asked her who did it she blamed it on Reid......UGHHH!! How do they learn to lie?? So, she got in a little trouble. Well, today I am cleaning up toys and I notice a blue crayon on my carpet and I look a little closer and yes, you guessed it.....I nice little portrait on my tile floor in the entry way. So, I ask her about it and it wasn't Reid this time...the conversation went a little something like this:

Me: "Macy, what happened to my floor?"
Macy: "What? I don't know" (with hand on hips and a confused look on her face)
Me: "Why is there blue crayon all over my floor?"
Macy: "Well, I wanted to color my baby dolls face and we got it all over the floor but it was a accident ok mommy."
Me: Your daddy will be so sad when he gets home and sees the floor."
Macy: "No he won't"
Me: "Please go sit on your bed and think about what you did."
Macy: "I already did think about what I did."

OK....what do I do about my budding artist and anyone have any ideas about how to get crayon off the tile?? I haven't even tried to scrub it...it's been one of those days. I hope tomorrow I will laugh about this.. :)

Pray without ceasing.....

I have tried for days to post about Hurricane Katrina but I cannot find the words. My heart aches for the people who have lost everything. I can hardly put my mind around it. The news is depressing to watch but I have been glued to it since day one. I want to help so badly but don't know what to do. All the people are right here in my town and I feel completly helpless. Our church is taking in people and hopefully I can be used there. I don't know.... what do you when you don't know what to do? (that was a weird sentence...) I wish I could help like Oprah. She is one amazing woman. I watched her show today and it was very touching. I didn't get up the whole hour...my eyes were open to things I thought I would never see. The devastation and sadness she showed was unreal.

Reid got 1 student in his class today and 1 across the hall. There are many more thru the school. I really think his eyes were open to the tragedy today when those precious children told them of everything they lost. Can 9 year olds really understand the depth of the horrible aftermath of the hurricane? I can barely understand it. All we can do is pray, especially for the little children.

Tonight my heart is heavy.......

My baby is officially a third grader... YIKES!! This morning went great. He was excited and walked right into the class without even hesitating. I was waiting for some sort of kiss or hug, but....nothing!! My baby is growing up and I think getting a kiss at school now might be a little embarrassing. It makes me sad. I guess I thought he would kiss me all the way thru 12th grade. :) Oh, he did let me take a picture with him and his teacher before I left...Yeah!

He looked so cute in his new clothes and new school bag. He had his bag full of pencils, sharpeners, paper and gadgets (compliments of Neena and Papaw). He was a little worried about all his school supplies....I assured him that they will be there on his desk when he gets to school. I love the PTA packs!! :) The only thing we didn't get done was a haircut....oh well, good thing that shaggy hair is the style. I'll try to post a picture if I can figure it out.

I'm a little lost today without the Rooster (and Macy is, too) but I know he's having a big day!! I can't wait to hear all about it....

skool is kool

Please pray for little Reid...he will be starting school on Monday. I can't believe he will be in the third grade. It just seems like yesterday that I was changing his diapers, rocking him to sleep, letting him run back and forth to Nana and Poppi's and letting him watch Barney, over and over. :) Time flies.......

We got to meet his teacher today and I am really excited. She was really nice....she reminded me of Jenna...young, very sweet and thoughtful, excited about school, and loving on all the kids. I got a little teary eyed watching Reid as he played in his desk and looked around the room in hopes of a friend being in there that he knew.....and "YES", he said, "Jorge is in my room!!" Yikes....they are a pair. Let's hope Ms. Digman separates them during class. ha ha He is also glad that his friend Matthew is in there from church. I'm glad too. I have a really good feeling about this year so please pray with me that it will be better than last year.....No tears this year.... I can't take it

Bedtime Blues

HELP!! I am so mad tonight. I feel like it is a struggle every night to get my kids to bed. They are night owls and I need them to be in bed. Reid really tried my patience tonight and I don't really know how to handle it right now. He wanted to watch a movie at 10:00 (after being sick all day, again) and I said no and the tears started to flow........It makes me feel like a terrible mom. Is it bad that I need a little "me" time?? Maybe I need to go back and read "The Strong Willed Child" for the millionth time. :)

Sorry....had to vent.........

Tylenol, Motrin..whatever works

We have been a little puny lately. I think I started it with a headache and fever for me. It's just a viral infection but it lasts for about 3-4 days. Macy had it last week and was pretty pitiful. I ended up taking her to the doctor because I thought she might have strep throat...no, it was the viral infection. She is finally her old self and back to playing play-doh, barbies and making big messes! Yesterday while I was getting ready for church, Reid started feeling bad. I let him stay home with Troy and by the time I got home he had a fever and bad headache....UGH!! He ran fever all thru the night and this morning is a little better but still laying around complaining of a headache...the fever is a little better but he is still not himself. Right now he is watching Toy Story...in my bed. I hope Troy doesn't get it!

I was thinking today of times when I was sick and all the things my mom would do for me. I remember her making a "bed" for us on the couch so we could watch TV while we were sick, how wonderful the clean sheets felt when she changed them after us being sick, soup and crackers, I remember Nana always bringing popsicles out to us. And of course the TLC that Mom gave us until we felt better. :) I still wish for that TLC and for popsicles when I am sick. I know being sick isn't the best memory but anyone remember things your mom or dad would do for you that was special?

The Hottest Coolest Time in Texas

ok...it's 11:15 pm on Saturday night and are my kids sleeping???? NO THEY ARE NOT!! They are however.....in bed. I hear a lot of flipping and talking but no sleeping. This summer has been a crazy one so all of our schedules are off. We just got back from our annual Schlitterbahn trip with the Sab's. It was another fun time with family. The four of us went a day early so we could get two full days of fun.....is waiting in line for an hour really fun??? Anyway, the first night I got food poisoning (or something) :) I can tell you that I won't be eating at Applebee's any time soon. Thankfully, I felt better the next morning and we were off to the park. We stood in line for the river ride for about an hour (after standing in line for a lifejacket and kiddy toob for Macy) and when we finally got to the front of the line Macy had a screaming fit....legs straight and NOT getting into the toob that I stood in line for 15 minutes to get...well we made her get in and she cried all the way down. The river ride is not a scary ride...it's really relaxing but she didn't think so. There is a point in the ride that you can go one way to the Comal River and the other way to get out and yes, you guessed it...the girls had to get out and the boys got to finish the ride. :) So, the rest of our trip Troy and I took turns with her and played in the kiddy part. I was glad when it was my turn to go with Reid to the FUN rides!! We had a great time and look forward to going back again next year.

*******

Before we went to Schlitterbahn we had a fun weekend at Mom and Dad's for the 4th. I wrote that we were going to Rosanky to watch the fireworks but we decided to stay in the 'ville to watch...the were really good. We all had fun...we sat on the tailgates of Old Blue and BA's truck. Macy did not like the fireworks but loved the snowcone!! :) Reid loved the fireworks and didn't finish his snowcone....go figure. Mom had a BBQ at her house and we did a lot of swimming and eating! Oh, my gosh we ate ALL day!! One of Reid's favorite things was getting to ride Terry's golf cart all over D. River! We had a blast and hope to make the 4th party and annual thing!!

Happy 4th of July

What a busy summer this has been! I can't believe that it is about half way over and school will be starting soon. I also can't believe that I will have a 3rd grader....that is unbelievable. I still feel (at times) like I am a kid myself. We have been doing a little driving this summer.....we went to Lake Conroe the last two weekends. Troys parents have a time share thing there and we stayed there and went swimming, played putt-putt, went out on the boat and played dominoes and sequence all weekend. It was fun and very relaxing. Reid had fun hanging out with Eric and Marc....they are 15 and Reid thinks they are pretty cool. All they do is burp, toot, and talk about girls.....I hope Reid didn't catch on to any of that! We go to Schlitterbahn in 2 weeks with them...that ought to be exciting...more burping, yeah :)

I hope everyone has a wonderful and safe 4th....I think we will be heading to the 'ville to watch the fireworks in the big 'ole town of Rosanky...population 25...saluuuuuutttttteeeee!! No, really I bet they are pretty good...I'll let you know :) Troy has to work this weekend so I'll be traveling with the kidos..ALONE...it's torture sometimes. Macy is potty trained but we have to stop in every other town to tinkle. It takes us all day to get there....Oh, well...I know all the good stops! There is this one stop in Ellinger that I always stop at whether thy have to tee-tee or not. It has a very cute gift shop inside with scrapbook stuff!!! VERY CUTE!!

Have a great weekend!!

Dentists stink

If you read my cousin Jenna's post about the dentist you will find out that there are SOME in our family that do not have good teeth. I am one of them!! I too had to go to the dentist this week and it is NOT FUN. I also have a mouth full of crowns and fillings. I credit all my cavitites to good ole' First State Bank super bubble bubble gum.....oops. But I also brush, floss and rinse every night! I don't know why my teeth are terrible...I told the dental hygenist I feel like I have "bubba teeth"... ha ha Anyway, all my dental work is done...THANK GOD! Troy is also glad that it is all done and whenever he sees me chewing gum I get in trouble! ha ha... So to Jenna...I'm sorry about your day...I hope you are feeling better!! I fell your pain, cuz!!

Tonight the kids and I went to a free concert at Chick-fil-A. It was fun...it was a Christian band called NewSong. That were so good and the kids had a great time. Macy was really dancing and loving the music...Reid liked it but was a little more reserved! They crack me up at how different they are!

Troy is working tonight so of course I am up late. I should be in bed because tomorrow will be another crazy HOT day in Houston. Reid is finally asleep after watching the Spurs loose! He was not too happy about that. He is such a sports freek...just like his daddy. Troy called earlier and they talked for about 15 minutes about the Astros, Spurs, etc. until it was finally my turn to talk. I think Troy would rather talk to Reid about sports than listen to me babble! :) I hope they will always be close like that...it makes my heart happy!!

For the past year or so I have really been focusing on my exercising. IT IS SO HARD!! I had a few test come back that said I have high cholestrol (sp??), etc...that was not good. It put me in high gear to do something about all the extra weight I was carrying and to exercise more. Well I lost a few pounds and have been stuck at the same weight for months and months!! It is so frustrating!!! The last week or so I have been in an exercising slump...I have been feeling a little bitter about it!! :( So, I pouted for a while and today when I woke up I decided to get my butt moving and go to the gym!! Please pray that I will stick with it!! I guess along with my bad teeth I also have a few health problems...things could be worse, I know......just had to vent for a minute, ya know! :)

Tired but Tan

I'm up late...as usual. I always say I am going to get to bed at a decent time but I never do. I guess I am and always will be a night owl. I guess I got used to it because it's the only time I really get to get things done around here.....without the help of a certain 3 year old!! ha ha

You would think I would be worn out tonight because we went swimming twice today!! It was so hot here that that was the only thing we could do outside. Reid tried to shoot some hoops but couldn't stand the heat!! So, that was our excuse...to the pool we go!!! yeah Macy is really getting brave. She is actually going under...in the baby pool of course ...but just to get our hair wet is a real achievement! She has finally decided to put on the arm floaties and not just look at them and tell me how pretty they are!! Thank goodness!! It helps me out alot, although she still won't get in the big pool without being wrapped around my neck. Should I do swimming lessons?? I don't know!! Reid on the other hand was swimming laps today.....not worried about the Rooster! :)

Oh, I am so excited about the newest little addition to our family......our sweet cousins Justin and Hollie had their baby!!! YEAH!! We are so happy for them and for precious Riley Lyn. We can't wait to see her and get to love all over her!! Macy always wants me to pull up her picture on the computer so she can kiss it!! I'm sure G'ma Jo-Jo will have plenty of pictures to show us too! :) Congratulations to the Reese family!! We love you guys so much and are so happy for you! Can't wait for Christmas in the "Ville!! (Hope I see you all before that, though!!)

Well....I guess that's all that has been happening around here. I am rambling on.....Just wanted to blog....since it has been awhile (I was told!!)

Summer's here!!

The good news is....THE POOL IS OPEN!!! yeah!! The bad news is......it's swimsuit season!! yuck.....Oh, well!! Yesterday was spent at the pool and the kids were so excited. Of course, Reid is a little fish and swims all over the place. I can hardly watch him...one minute he's diving for toys and one minute he's doing a cannonball off the diving board. He is so funny to watch especially when he wears his goggles and his face gets all squished!! It's hilarious! But its nice that he swims so well because I don't have to watch him constantly. He's a good kid!!

Then there is....Miss No Swim. Macy is terrified of the pool. It kind of reminds me of cousin Justin at swimming lessons...ha ha She holds on to my neck and won't let go...even after I begged her!! After about an hour or so she warmed up to it a little and decided that it would be ok to sit on the step. So, thats where I spent my swimming time.....on the steps!! Not really my idea of burning calories but I did get a little sun. She is already ready to go back today. She said that she will swim better today.....I don't know if I should believer her?? ha ha No, it's really fun to take them even if I do have one around my neck. Ok...picture this....I'm trying NOT to fall out of my bathing suit and I have Macy hanging on my neck and Reid throwing me a "splash bomb" so we can play catch and black mascara running down my face. Not a pretty picture, huh!! But I'm sure it made for a good laugh for some of the moms who just go there to lay out!! hee hee

Everyone is laying down now (except for Reid...he's playing a little Game Cube....quietly!!) and it is nice and quiet around here. I should be cleaning or doing something more productive!! But oh, well...first things first. It's been a while since I have blogged. A couple of weeks ago I typed a really sweet blog about Macy's birthday and then when I tried to save it to went to la-la land!! That makes me mad when that happens...it was a good one too!! :)

Reid's last baseball game is on Monday. It's been a fun season even though we were like 2 and 12...ha ha!! The boys just had fun getting to play and they were happy that they won at least one game! They had their end of the season party on Thursday. It was at Gattiland and let me tell you it was crazy!! If you have never been to Gattiland you have to go at least once...it's WILD!! They got their trophies and Reid thought he had just won the World Series....he was really proud of his trophy!! Last year their trophies were bobble head ones..they were pretty ugly so, he was glad this year when he saw that they were normal ones!! He's wanting to play basketball this summer so I doubt things will slow down much!! But that ok...its a fun kind of busy!!

Oh, I wanted to send out another congrats to my baby brother and sissy in law on their graduation!! We went to Abilene this last weekend and got to spend time with everyone and we had a wonderful time. We are so proud of them and their accomplishments and wish them nothing but good things to come!! :) We love you guys!! Thanks to Jo-Jo and Jim for letting us stay with them!! It was a blast and we are all ready to come back!! PaPaw might not be ready to drive to Abliene but if he will, we will be there!! :)

Well, I guess I have rambled on long enough...I better go get some things done around here!!

Go Indians!!!

What a beautiful day for a baseball game!! Reid had another game today and it was an exciting one! I never thought I'd be a yeller but when Reid hits the ball I am screaming like a mad woman. There is something about when your child is up there you lose control!! He also had a great play at first base and tagged the runner out.... so there I go screaming again!! :) I hate to brag but Reid is an awesome player. I love watching him...he hits the fire out of the ball just about everytime he is up to bat....I am so proud of him. And he looks so sweet in his little uniform....he looks like a little Troy out there!! Bless their hearts, though they are 0-8......YIKES!! They have some really good hitters on the team but their outfielding leaves much to be desired!! They usually end up chasing the ball all over the field. Sometimes they just stand there with the ball in their hand not knowing where to throw it!! It's hilarious! Poor babies they are so down and they want to win just ONE game. One little boy yelled out of the dugout and said, "we suck"....Ummmmm he got in trouble and all the little boys got a good chuckle out of it! Of course his mom was mortified!! We are praying for a win.....only have about 3 games left.

Macy is napping....she runs all over the ball park so she is always good and wornout (and dirty) when we get home. So, I have a little break...that always makes for a nice afternoon. I love my kids more than anything but I also love a little "me" time every now and then.

Last weekend Troy and I got to go see Michael W Smith in concert and we had a blast. He is so good!! Mom came and babysat so we could make a date out of it. We even got to go out to eat and everything. We never go out on dates so we were loving being together and talking to each other without talking over the kidos. The concert was outside so we took blankets and snacks and got there early enough to get a good seat. It was a great evening and one that we really needed....personally and spiritually!!

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!!

Our angels

Today's post is a hard one....I wanted to post yesterday but I had the stomach bug AGAIN! Believe me it was no fun. I think we just keep passing it around the house and we can't get well.

It was a year ago yesterday that my sweet nephews went to be with Jesus. I can't believe it has been a year already. It seems like yesterday that I held them, kissed them and saw their precious faces. It has been a year filled with memories, tears and some smiles knowing that they are in Heaven with all our loved ones who have gone on and that they are spoiling them rotten. Of course, Granny Price has carried them all over, Papa has picked on them, Aunt Elaine has made them homemade Catalina..... :) That gives me comfort.....

You would not believe how strong my sister (and brother in law) has been through all this...it has been a hard year. I admire her so much and when she's not looking I feed off her strength. :) I thank her so much for her relationship and letting me be a part of the boys.....Thank you sissy....

As another year passes we pray for peace in knowing that our angels, Brock and Brody, are looking out for us and as time goes by we pray for more strength, guidence and love. Time heals our pain somewhat but the memories of the boys will go on forever. Your aunt Heather loves you and can't wait to hold you again.

I can honestly say that I am exhausted! Who ever said being a mommy was no sweat needs a good swift kick in the pants. We had spring break last week and in honor of our holiday....we all got the stomach bug. Isn't that lovely! We went to Smithville on Saturday and I got sick on Sunday.....I'm sure Mom and Dad were SO glad we came to visit..ha ha...Anyway, Macy got it, and then Reid got it Wednesday after we came back home to Houston. It was a blessing that I got it in the ville because I had all my family there to help me with the kids. So, needless to say i'm SOOOOOO glad that our Spring Break is over!!

Troy has been working all week......I'm ready for him to be home for a while. It is so hard in the evening with the kids all by myself. I don't know how single parents do it. I have so much respect for them because I know how hard it is to do it alone......and my hubby is only gone a few+ nights out of the month.

Today was a grocery store run.........has anyone gone lately or remember going with a 2 year old..........you might as well stay home!!! Let's see, we started out with a pink donut with sprinkles, then some apple juice, then some Trident peach gum, then a bag of candy necklaces, and then a fit in the middle of the aisle for a pink sparkly bouncy ball.......CALGONE TAKE ME AWAY. And all that was the first 15 minutes before we even paid for anything!! Anyone have any advice for shopping with kidos???

Nothing new happing around the Sab's homestead. Just the same ole stuff......Just wanted to blog a little......thanks for listening! :)

Being a Mary....

This weekend I went to a Ladies retreat with my church. WOW!! Is all I can say. It was definitely the weekend I needed. The title was "Being a Mary in a Martha World" and it was so good. Our speaker was Cassandra Martin from The Champions church. She really is a great speaker! I really related to it because I tend to be more like Martha. I worry about the cooking, cleaning, laundry, phone calls I need to make, bills to pay....Etc. When all God wants me to do is to sit at His feet. I never really thought about just sitting at His feet and to learning to be more like Him. It seems like the days get busy and I forget about that....the most important thing. One of the verses we read was Psalm 46:10...."Be still and know that I am God." I mean, I want that more than anything, I want to sit at His feet and be still and know that he loves me so much and wants me to hear his Word and meet Him there daily. Our quiet time in the Word is so important to Him.

I love the story..... Luke 10:38-42:

"As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lords feet listening to what he said. But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, "Lord, don't you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!" "Martha, Martha," the Lord answered, "you are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her."

Jesus wants us to have a heart that looks like His and Mary made a choice to listen so that her heart would be like His.

Way to go Mary....ha ha Anyway, I just had to share that... I know that story has been told so many times and I'm sorry but it really hit home this time. I guess because we do all tend to get busy with the hustle and bustle of life and all the preparations that have to be made and we forget who loves us more than anything and who could care less if our kitchen sink is sparkling clean...He wants us to be like Mary and sit at his feet.....

So.....

This weekend was spent in The 'Ville celebrating my mom's birthday. She turned @#$#@ on Sunday. (don't know if she wants her age posted or not :-) ......) We got to have Nana's yummy red velvet cake. Oh my gosh, it is so good! She has perfected that cake to a tee!! I have tried making it once and it turned out to be a big 'ole mess!! I think mom had a good birthday......she woke up sick but was a good trooper the rest of the day. It stinks when you don't feel good and you have company. Huh, Mom?? We all tried to leave fairly early so she could nap and so the boys could watch the Super Bowl. Of course, we had to listen to some of it on the way home and I had no clue what was going on. Even Reid kept asking, "Daddy who did what??". It's one thing to watch football but to listen to it on the radio.......let's just say I am a visual person!! :) I'm so glad that we got to go home for mom's big day because she means so much to us. We love you mom and are so glad that we got to spend your birthday with you. I love you sooooo......Maybe next time we come down we can play a mean game of Balderdash!! :)

We also got to visit with Troy's family. My niece, Valerie, played her "little dribblers" basketball game on Saturday. We all went to see her play. She is so good. Her nickname on the team is "Bully" because she doesn't care who you are when she's on the court she'll steal that ball from you. It was too cute. Her and Reid are the same age so its fun to see them together. My in-laws also got a new computer so we spent some of Saturday playing on it and showing them some shortcuts. After that we went to LaCabana with my parents...gotta have Cabana when your in the 'ville!! yummy!!

Today was filled with more rain. I tell you this town is a muddy mess!! Hopefully tomorrow will be sunshiny!! Macy and I have bible class tomorrow....thank goodness. We have been in the house for two days and are getting a little restless!

Reid got to decorate his Valentine box tonight. He was not too thrilled about that. I had some heart stickers and he said NO WAY!! ha ha I just thought they would add some cuteness to the boring brown box!! hee hee...He wrote "Happy Valentines Day" and drew two footballs on the front. Nothing but sports for that boy. He also had to do his v-day cards for his class.....that took forever!! He had to pick just the right one and if it had anything on it that was too sweet it was in the trash can. He has about 15 girls in his class and 6 boys.....he complains about that every other day. He is SO funny!!

Macy did not have a nap today so I better go put her to bed. She is getting a little grouchy.

Thankful Thoughts of the Day

Today the weather is so so GROSS....it has been raining all day and is so cold. (Well, cold for Houston) We have had the fireplace on all day and are as cozy as little bedbugs!! (Or whatever the expression!!) That is one of many of the things I love about being a stay at home mom....I love cold wintery days when I can just "be" with my kids! I love snuggling in the chair and watching Barney or whatever their choice of torture is for me...ha ha. I am so blessed that I get to stay home although some days when we are flat broke I wonder why and then I look at my kids and know that home is where I need to be. I absolutely love it so that leads me to my "Thankful thoughts of the day"......

Reasons why I love being a stay-at-home mommy.....
**I get to scrapbook at naptime. :)
**I can be goofy and silly with them
**Snuggles, hugs and kisses at anytime
**I can watch my soaps!! :)
**The simple pleasures of watching them grow

**I can teach, love, support and encourage
**My house stays clean...YEAH, RIGHT!! Just thought that sounded good
**Childcare is too costly
**We get to go to Ladies bible class and then to Chick-fil-A for lunch with the girls!
**Sometimes I get to nap with Macy
**I can play all day long if I choose
**I've learned a lot about myself
**I get to run on the treadmill whenever I want
**I can stay caught up on the laundry...on most days
**I get to go on fieldtrips with the Reidster
**I get to go to holiday parties at Reids school
**I get to discipline them
**I get to watch Oprah.
**We get to go to the library for story time
**Summers at the pool
